Voice over WiFi or simply WiFi Calling is a feature that enables you to make/receive phone calls as well as send/receive SMS over any WiFi connection, without the need to install any app. It enables you to be connected even in areas where mobile coverage is limited. You can call any mobile number or fixed land line, regardless of whether the other party is on WiFi-calling. - What are the differences between VoLTE and VoWiFi?
VoWifi lets you make and receive calls using your WiFi when there is limited mobile network coverage. - How do I use Yes VoWiFi?
The WiFi-calling feature needs to be made available through supported VoWiFi devices with updated phone firmware and to be enabled in a phone with WiFi connection on your smartphone. - How to enable VoWiFi on my device?
Please make sure you have a smartphone with the latest software from your phone manufacturer and the WiFi calling feature.Enable VoWiFi on Android:
For Android devices, follow these general steps to enable VoWiFi:
Go to “Settings.”

No, VoWiFi calls will not utilize any data quota allocated to your mobile plan. However, it will utilize the data quota from WIFI which the tethered device is connected to. - How do I know I am calling or sending an SMS over WiFi-calling?
A WiFi-calling icon/indicator (usually denoted by a phone receiver coupled with a WiFi fan in the status bar at the top left of the home screen) will appear when the phone is set up successfully for WiFi-calling. All calls and SMS connected when the icon is displayed will be connected through the WiFi network.
- Are there any charges for using WiFi-calling?
There is no additional subscription charge for WiFi-calling. However all outgoing calls and SMS made through WiFi-calling will be charged according to your respective subscription rate plan. Rate plan that comes with unlimited calls will be free. - Will I be able to use the mobile line to make calls and send SMS if I disable VoWiFi?
Yes, you will still be able to make calls and send SMS even if you disable VoWiFi. VoWiFi is an optional feature that allows you to make voice calls over a WiFi network when available, but it is not the only method of making calls and sending SMS on a mobile device. When you disable VoWiFi, your phone will use the regular mobile network for voice calls and SMS. As long as your device has a Yes mobile signal, you can place calls and send text messages without any issues. If you ever want to use VoWiFi again, you can enable the feature through your device’s settings. - Which are the devices supported by Yes VoWiFi?

All the latest mobile devices sold through official manufacturer stores in Malaysia are enabled with VoWiFi. Alternatively, you can check with your phone manufacturer to confirm VoWiFi compatibility. - Does Yes VoWiFi support roaming?
No, calls made while roaming will be made through VoLTE or 3G provided by foreign networks. - Can I use Yes VoWiFi to do IDD?
Yes, you can make International Direct Dial (IDD) with WiFi-calling and you will be charged according to your standard rates. Visit yes.my/roaming/ for more information. - Can I use Yes VoWiFi if I am using Yes Broadband/Wireless Gateway plans?
Yes, provided your devices are supported with VoWiFi services. - Can my supplementary lines use Yes VoWiFi?
Yes, provided your devices is supported with VoWiFi services. - Can I use Yes VoWiFi at public WiFi hotspots (i.e. hotels, airports, campuses & restaurants)?
Yes, you can use VoWiFi calls as long as you have access to a WiFi network. However, this is subject to the WiFi service provider as voice calls may be blocked. - Can I receive a Yes VoWiFi call while having an active browsing session on a WiFi network?
Yes, you are able to make and receive VoWiFi calls and browse at the same time as long as you are connected to a WiFi network. - Can I make a video call on the WiFi network?
Yes, you are able to make a video call with VoWiFi as long as your device supports video calls. - Why am I not able to make calls via Yes VoWiFi even though I am connected to a WiFi network?
There are a few possible scenarios;
(i) WiFi Signal Strength: VoWiFi requires adequate WiFi signal strength (with a minimum bandwidth of 25 kbps) before automatically connecting to WiFi calling. Try moving to an area with a stronger signal.
(ii) Captive Portals: If the WiFi network has a captive portal (e.g., premises that require you to log in), you may need to open a browser and sign in with the provided username and password.
(iii) Public WiFi Policies: Some public WiFi networks may have policies in place that block WiFi calling services.
(iv) Private WiFi Policies: If you are on a private WiFi network (e.g., company WiFi), your employer may have policies that block WiFi calling services.
(v) Device Compatibility: Check if your phone model is compatible with Yes VoWiFi and that it is updated with the latest software/firmware. If it is, go to the settings and ensure that WiFi calling is enabled.
(vi) Account Status: Verify that your line is not barred, suspended, or terminated. If it is, you will not be able to make calls via VoWiFi. - Can I make emergency calls with Yes VoWiFi?
Yes, you can. But we recommend you to connect to our mobile network instead. This is to ensure that your location can be identified. - What if I have any other questions not addressed in this FAQ?
